
The Organising Committee of the Eni Italgas Prize has announced today the names of the winners of the XIX edition.
The Scientific Commission chaired by Domenico Siniscalco has awarded:
The Prize Science and Environment ex aequo to Armand Paul Alivisatos [download pdf]for the studies on very thin solar cells composed by minuscole photosensitive crystals (nanocrystals) and to Alan Heeger [download pdf], who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 2000, for his innovative research on solar cells made with plastic material: cheap, versatile and clean.
The prize, that consists of a sum of 120.000 euros, is aimed to scientists that have achieved relevant results in research on energy sources and their relation with the environment.
the Prize Debut in Research to Alberto Gasparotto[download pdf]and to Maria Assunta Navarra [download pdf]for the studies undertaken respectively on nanotecnologies in the energetic and environmental field and on new technologies applied to fuel cells.
The Prize recognizes the value of two Doctoral theses discussed in Italian Universities. Each of the winners receives a sum of 20.000 euros.
The Communication Commission has selected Vittorio Bo as the winner of the Prize for Scientific Information, for his contribution to the circulation of culture and scientific information in editorial activities and with the realisation of the “Festival of Science”. The prize consists of a sum of 10.000 euros.
A special mention has been awarded to “TuttoScienze”, in the person of Piero Bianucci, long-term manager of the supplement of the daily newspaper “La Stampa”, which has been spreading scientific issues among the public for 25 years.
Starting from this edition, the Prize enters the name of Eni next to Italgas. In this way the biggest Italian company associates its prestige and interest to an initiative of growing relevance among the world scientific community.
