Today, our experience and our capacity to innovate are at the service of the energy transition. Gas networks play an essential role in ensuring gas availability, energy security and cost sustainability for citizens and businesses. Our 2026-2032 Strategic Plan “Lead. Innovate. In a changing world” sets out €13 billion in investments to enhance our infrastructure, building on the integration of 2i Rete Gas and on the ongoing technological and digital upgrade of our assets: an essential condition for accommodating and distributing renewable gases — biomethane, hydrogen and synthetic methane — and for reducing our carbon footprint. Only a smart, fully digitalised and flexible network will be able to effectively manage the coexistence of different energy sources.

Artificial Intelligence is an integral part of our operating model and the cornerstone of this Plan: applied to operations, business processes and customer management, it is our strategic ally in improving operational efficiency, service quality and business sustainability across all the sectors in which we operate — gas, water, energy efficiency and digital innovation.

We leverage distinctive expertise to develop new opportunities: with Geoside we are a leading player in energy efficiency, with Nepta we drive innovation in water services and, with Bludigit, we oversee technological development for the entire Group.

We also look beyond national borders. We are present in Greece through Enaon, where the Plan confirms €1 billion in investments for the extension and digitalisation of the gas distribution network.

In the 2026-2032 Strategic Plan we have planned a significant increase in investments, both to drive the digital transformation of our assets and to strengthen our presence in the energy efficiency sector. We want to be a leading player in the energy transition towards the decarbonisation of the economy and of consumption, and in achieving the European Union’s climate targets. Our commitment is shared by all the people of Italgas: it powers our processes, creates shared value with all stakeholders and guides our vision of the future.

We talk about energy, in the plural, because the energy mix of the future will not only be linked to fossil gas: renewable gases, such as biomethane and, in the longer term, hydrogen and synthetic methane, will play an increasingly important role in the transition as will energy efficiency solutions. For us, innovation is not an end in itself: it is necessary to fight against climate change, guarantee a quality, safe and reliable service to our customers, develop the skills of our people, and spread knowledge in the area. Our daily work derives from this vision, which we have summarized in our mission.
