Creating value for the territory and community
Our territory is changing, as well as the way we live it. That’s why we want to take care of it by supporting employment, giving new impetus to the local economy and developing projects dedicated to the communities in which we operate.
The special characteristics of the territories in which we operate – from large urban centres to small local entities – represent opportunities for growth and innovation that are indispensable, Which encourage us to rethink sustainable development for all with diversified and tailor-made solutions.
For this reason we are committed to promoting a solid connection between networks, territory and communities through collaboration with institutions, associations, foundations and non-profit organizations. Together, we carry out projects and initiatives in favour of environmental protection, the dissemination of culture, technological and scientific innovation, research and training.
We want to be a reference point in the energy transition of the country, accompanying it towards an increasingly green, digital and resilient future. For this reason we actively participate in the life of the communities where we are present every day, bringing safe energy to people and businesses and promoting the economic, social and cultural development of the territory.

Activities in schools
![]()
We believe that providing the new generations with the most innovative tools and skills necessary to start the journey towards the future is a responsibility of the social and productive fabric of the country, which can in no way disregard the dialogue between schools and companies.
That is why we are committed every day to promote educational projects in schools of different orders and degrees, with the aim of stimulating interest and raise awareness on new sustainability challenges in the energy sector as the transition to clean energy sources and the adoption of more responsible and sustainable behaviors in the use of energy resources.
The training meetings
In 2024 we met 460 students from 20 elementary and middle schools all over Italy, to involve them on the most current topics. In one and a half hour sessions, we explored the origin and use of methane as an energy source, the natural gas supply chain and the future of energy such as the transition to clean energy sources.
Italgas NextGen
It is a school-to-work transition program aimed at engaging technical high school students through experiental learning, digital skills development and career orientation. In 2024 Italgas engaged with 767 students from technical and technological institutes across Italy
Geoside White Energy Week
Since 2017, Geoside has been carrying out the White Energy Week, a training course that in 2024 involved 16 classes of higher education institutions in Emilia-Romagna, to bring them closer to the topics of energy efficiency, The adoption of more sustainable behaviour and the professions of the future.
Toscana Energia
Toscana Energia continues its commitment to promoting and implementing educational projects, which in recent years have been dedicated to Primary Schools. The 2024 edition involved 1,000 students from more than 50 classes across the provinces of Florence, Livorno, Lucca, Pisa, and Prato. Energy Saving for the Planet is the educational project designed to raise awareness among younger generations on sustainability issues, encouraging them to adopt more responsible behaviors such as energy saving, recycling, and waste reduction and the transition to clean energy sources.
The territorial commitment in Greece
![]()
We passionately cultivate the relationship with the territories and communities of Greece where we are present, actively engaged in the conservation of local biodiversity. We are dedicated, for example, to projects that include the regeneration of green spaces, the maintenance of restored public parks and the construction of new play areas, but also to actions designed to combat climate change.
We also support municipalities and regions in the distribution of meal vouchers to vulnerable social groups, in the implementation of cultural projects on the territory and in the event of exceptional events. In response to the severe consequences of Cyclone Daniel, we provided immediate support to affected communities through the Volunteer Rescue Mission Group and the Hellenic Rescue Team, providing food and essential supplies.
This commitment was also reflected in the financial support given to the relief groups following the serious rail accident in the Tempi area, in the region of Thessaly, to hospitals and non-profit organisations, but also in sponsoring national university research and school competitions.
The Heritage Lab of Italgas: two hundred years of energy memory
![]()
Our history is a vital part of the country’s social and technological development. To share it with new generations and make it accessible to scholars and researchers worldwide, we have created a meeting place—both physical and virtual—with extraordinary storytelling potential: Heritage Lab.
Through our partnership with the Giorgio Cini Foundation, we have transformed our Museum and Historical Archive in Turin into a cutting-edge laboratory, equipped with the most advanced technologies for 2D and 3D digitisation of the entire historical, industrial, artistic, and cultural heritage of Italgas. This journey unfolds simultaneously at the very heart of our documents and operations.
The ”Time Capsules“ project by Heritage Lab engages students from primary and lower secondary schools across Italy in imagining the future twenty years from now and documenting the present through written texts and drawings. Each participant receives a certificate confirming their involvement. In 2041, the first contributions will be opened and returned. The initiative strengthens Heritage Lab’s role as a bridge between generations and a guardian of collective memory.
The “Chronicles of Water” project was launched as an initiative to preserve and promote cultural memory related to water. Students, through interviews with family members, the collection of historical and contemporary images, and a final report on the topic, assemble the pieces of Italy’s water mosaic as both a resource and a necessity. Heritage Lab will make the collected materials accessible through digitization and online publication, ensuring the community access to a unique and evolving database.

Support for culture
Our role also means that we must provide all the energy necessary to support talent and protect the heritage of the communities with which we interact. For this reason we are actively engaged in the promotion of art and culture, both through the synergy with the Greek Embassy in Italy and by supporting some of the most important and recognized institutions on the national territory, The Fondazione Teatro Regio in Turin, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.
Support for the world of sport and health
With the same dedication, we also support various sports and health promotion activities, to contribute to the development of a more inclusive social fabric that is attentive to the well-being of all. An example is the collaboration with the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation on the occasion of youth championships and ATP Finals, but also the commitment that unites us to the Association LILT in spreading a more effective oncology prevention on the territory.
