We turned 180 years old on 12 September 2017. To celebrate this important anniversary, many initiatives were promoted.
We celebrated our 180th anniversary in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Madama, with the top management of Italgas, institutions, the press and many stakeholders attending.
The book “Luce, calore, energia. 180 anni di Italgas” by the historian Valerio Castronovo was presented on the occasion of this event.
An artistic path to promote our company’s history was planned.
Ten contemporary artists (AuroraMeccanica, Veronica Botticelli, Sabrina Casadei, Luca Grechi, Andrea Grotto, Paola Pasquaretta, Maya Quattropani, Patrizia Emma Scialpi, Sally Viganò, Marco Maria Zanin) exhibited their works on themes, objects, structures and moments that wrote Italgas’ history in the halls of Museo Storico Italgas of Turin.
A new brand
An Italgas re-branding campaign was launched, with which focus was placed on giving a face to the heat that Italgas has been bringing into the homes of Italians for about two centuries.
A heat that finds perfectly synthesis in the iconic shape of the flame of methane gas and that depicts Italgas’ laborious, “invisible” but competent and tangible contribution.
Journey in stages and prize contest
In 2017, Italgas celebrated its 180 years of history with an initiative travelling over the territory that landed in 4 of Italy’s major cities and a “180 di questi giorni” [“180 of These Days”] prize contest.
The tour began in June with a first stage at Milan’s Central Station, and it continued at the Rome Termini and Naples Central stations to then wind up in November at the Turin Porta Nuova station.
Weekend in a gas meter house
After the tour at the major Italian railway stations and the contest came to an end, Italgas livened up a weekend in piazza Bodoni with video installations and performances.
An original multimedia event came to life in a special gas meter house, centred on the theme of the well-being and comfort that gas has made possible in all homes.
