For us, emergency means:

  • Smell gas and don’t know where it’s coming from.
  • Notice a sudden lack of gas or flow irregularities (oscillation).

The Emergency Service, available 24 hours a day for assistance and failures

In case of emergency, here’s what you need to do:

  • Call the emergency service: 800 900 999

No matter what time or day, our emergency service is always active (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), responds after a few seconds and intervenes within an hour of your call. Both the call and the intervention are free. When you call, you will be put in direct contact with an operator of the Integrated Supervision Center and never redirected to another number. When our operator answers your call, he will ask you questions: try to be as clear as possible, this will help us to provide the right instructions to the staff that will intervene and prevent any problems.

  • What to do and not to do while you wait

When a report is received, operators give the first indications of what to do, but here are some preliminary ideas. In case of gas leak: if you are in the house or in a closed place, open all windows and doors that face outside. Check the stove to close and close the meter. If there is no gas: close the valve above the meter. Wait for the arrival of the Italgas staff. And instead what you should not do: do not smoke or use flames. Do not turn on or off the light or use electrical appliances. Do not use lifts, doorbells, landline phones and mobile phones. Do not look for gas leaks with a flashlight or candle.

  • Our intervention: before and after

Our operators, once received the alert, immediately activate the Emergency Response unit for the verifications and technical operations of the case, to safeguard citizens, the safety of installations and the restoration of normal service conditions as soon as possible. After the intervention of our staff, make sure that the conditions have changed which generated the request for intervention (e.g. no more smell of gas).
