Gas future

Towards a CO2-neutral Europe in 2050.

The European Union has a collective goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 and reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.

European policies aim to mitigate climate change due to the huge quantities of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. The main causes are human activities around the world, including the burning of fossil fuels for energy production, heating and transport.

The way to achieve this is through the energy transition, i.e. moving from a fossil-based energy mix to a low-carbon or zero-carbon one that includes renewable sources.

The contribution of all of us

We believe in this evolution and are at the service of the energy future. The distribution network is ready for this important step: thanks to its capillarity throughout Italy and its digitalisation, we can store surplus electricity produced from renewable sources and distribute green gas such as biomethane and hydrogen. This means that we will bring you renewable energy sources that you can use responsibly for industrial, domestic or mobility purposes.

We are all part of the change and must act to achieve the decarbonisation of our country and support the energy transition. We are here, are you?

Green gas: biomethane and hydrogen

Did you know that a sustainable, ready-to-use energy source can be derived from food waste? Or that in the next few years you will be able to heat your home with ‘green hydrogen’?

Together with GD4S, the European Association for a Greener Europe

Together with leading natural gas distributors from France, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Ireland, we are part of Gas Distributors for Sustainability – GD4S.

GD4S brings together seven of the largest natural gas distributors in Europe, serving around 28 million customers, corresponding to 30% of the European gas market. The Brussels-based association is committed to decarbonising Europe’s energy system by 2050 and unlocking the potential of renewable gases and gas networks.
